Our client is a dynamic IT company based in Luxembourg and specialized in IT infrastructure services and B2B solutions. We are looking for a System Administrator with knowledge of Solaris.

Position

Main responsibilities

  • Establishes and maintains user accounts, assigning file permissions and establishing password and account policies
  • Installs, upgrades, configures, tests, maintains and supports operating system software in a production and development environment.
  • Configure and implement LDOM’s and Zones pertaining to Solaris where needed.
  • Participates in reviewing performance logs and monitors system performance.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves basic level system hardware, software and communications problems and aids in performing configurations and adjustments to enhance database file capacity; performs automated and manual backup and restore processes
  • Installs, configures and tests software packages
  • Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Performs daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media
  • Performs regular file archival and purge as necessary

We are looking for the candidates with the following technical skills:

  • Professional level of French & English are a must. 
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent work experience) in Computer Science with the main focus in Virtualization, Telecom or Network.
  • Experience Installing, Configuring, and Managing Solaris Servers
  • Experience with Solaris system monitoring including reviewing system and application logs to troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware related problems
  • Knowledge of OS security best practices and experience with the Secure Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) process.
  • Experience with Logical Domains (LDOMS), Containers, Zones, all variations of FS including ZFS, vSwitches and other relevant Solaris technologies
  • Familiarity with SAN/storage concepts (LUNs, HBAs), logical volume management, and NFS.
  • Writing shell scripts to incorporate automation in to day-to-day activities.
  • Setup and troubleshoot Network, DNS, and NTP.
