SMT Engineering Specialist (m/f)

Our client is a global leader in manufacturing, based in Luxembourg and several other countries. We are currently looking for a SMT Engineering Specialist that is fluent in English and French/German to join this innovative manufacturing company.
Position
- Design, implement, and enhance SMT processes to achieve superior production quality.
- Detect and address bottlenecks and inefficiencies within the process.
- Regularly review and analyze production data to drive enhancements in yield, cycle time, and overall process efficiency.
- Configure and program SMT equipment, such as screen printers, pick-and-place machines, and reflow ovens, to meet production needs.
- Set up, calibrate, and service optical inspection systems, including Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) and Solder Paste Inspection (SPI), to ensure precise quality control.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to perform routine preventive maintenance and address issues with SMT and inspection equipment.
- Keep a comprehensive understanding of the capabilities and limitations of all equipment used.
- Create and apply process control strategies to reduce defects and maintain high product quality.
- Work closely with quality assurance teams to investigate defects, apply corrective measures, and enhance process consistency.
- Perform root cause analysis on process-related issues and lead initiatives to implement corrective actions.
- Develop and update process documentation, including work instructions, setup sheets, and process control plans.
- Produce and review reports on process performance, yield, and downtime metrics.
- Keep precise records of equipment settings, process parameters, and material consumption.
- Train and assist production staff in SMT process procedures, equipment operation, and troubleshooting techniques and offer technical guidance and support to operators and technicians.
- Keep abreast of the latest developments in SMT technology and integrate best practices into processes.
- Spearhead and engage in continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, to boost process efficiency and lower costs.
- Work with cross-functional teams to implement process enhancements and support new product introductions (NPI).
- Foster innovation in SMT processes and contribute to the creation of new technologies and methods.
Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in SMT process engineering or a comparable position.
- In-depth understanding of SMT processes, materials, and equipment.
- Practical experience with SMT and optical inspection equipment.
- Proficient in programming and operating inspection machines, as well as using process control tools (e.g., SPC, DOE).
- Expertise in process optimization, root cause analysis, and reducing defects.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication abilities.
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is advantageous.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software and ERP/MRP systems is a plus.
